Newspaper Headlines: Senate to unveil Tinubu’s ministerial nominees this week

Reports on the presidential election petition tribunal and the effects of petrol subsidy removal, including the hike in school fees and transport fares, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that commuters are now cutting down on interstate travel owing to the hike in the price of petrol. The newspaper says Godswill Akpabio, the senate president, will likely unveil the names of ministerial nominees at plenary this week.
The Guardian reports that Taoreed Abiodun, chief of army staff, has launched a special operation to tackle the violent attacks in Mangu LGA of Plateau and other parts of the state. The newspaper says the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) said it will begin the conversion of petrol vehicles to gas-powered engines in the next two to three weeks.
Daily Sun reports that the bodies of two siblings were recovered in Lagos state following the collapse of a fence in their room during a heavy downpour. The newspaper says flood has taken over some communities in Irewole LGA of Osun state.
THISDAY reports that Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to manipulate the judiciary and undermine democracy. The newspaper says the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has made public a list of 19 fund managers to oversee the administration of the monies accruing to the host communities development trust (HCDT).
Nigerian Tribune reports that organised labour has warned the federal government not to take Nigerians for granted over a hike in the school fees of public educational institutions. The newspaper says fear has gripped some residents of Makurdi, Benue state capital, over the reported case of anthrax disease in a pig.
