Newspaper Headlines: APC governors, chieftains arrive Plateau with 30 jets for Tinubu’s campaign flag-off

Reports on the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign in Jos, Plateau state, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch says APC governors and several other party chieftains arrived at the Jos airport with over 30 private and chartered jets to attend the presidential campaign inauguration of Bola Tinubu, the party’s flagbearer. The newspaper reports that a court has issued an order of interim injunction restraining the federal government from executing the proposed establishment of the national carrier – Nigeria Air.
The Nation reports that Hadi Sirika, minister of aviation, said the refusal of local airlines to invest in the new national carrier forced the federal government to foreign airlines. The newspaper says Tinubu has assured Nigerians of a brighter future if elected in next year’s poll.
Daily Trust says Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has asked his successor, Chukwuma Soludo, to focus on doing his part as governor of Anambra. The newspaper reports that the bankruptcy of crypto giant, FTX, has raised concerns in the digital currency space as some investors are admitting for the first time the need for regulation.
Daily Independent says the house of representatives has asked Shell, Chevron, AGIP, Total, and oth­ers to account for over $90 billion production sharing contracts (PSCs) and oil mining leases (OMLs). The newspaper reports that inflation has risen to 21.09 percent in October as prices of food items keep surging.
Daily Sun reports that Godswill Akpabio, former minister of Niger Delta affairs, has approached the supreme court to appeal the judgement nullifying his candidacy for the Akwa Ibom north-west senatorial district election. The newspaper says Matthew Kukah, the Catholic bishop of Sokoto diocese, said nobody should die over any presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 polls.
