Newspaper Headlines: APC may back governors on parallel congresses

Issues on the state congresses conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the pre-convention crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appeared on the cover pages.

The Nation reports that there is anxiety in the PDP over the legal suit filed by Uche Secondus, suspended national chairman, ahead of the party’s national convention. The newspaper says the APC has declared that any congress not conducted by its accredited officials is null and void.
The Punch reports that the national leadership of the APC may back governors in states where parallel congresses were organised. The newspaper says the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has denied paying N20 million to bandits to save President Muhammadu Buhari’s plane.
Daily Independent reports that analysts have argued that the country has become unattractive to lenders and investors. The newspaper says the senate has uncovered how the budget office paid N28 billion to unnamed government agencies in 2015.
The Nigerian Tribune says the caretaker committee of the APC has reiterated its stance to sanction party members who organised parallel congresses. The newspaper reports that fuel subsidy hit N816 billion in seven months.
Daily Trust reports that the federal government is yet to commence the implementation of Steve Oronsaye’s report over 18 months after a presidential directive. The newspaper says the village head of Banye in Charanchi LGA of Katsina has been abducted.

  1. Since it’s polical issues that are now taking the front pages of national daylies as against how to alleviate the sufferings Nigerians are undergoing on a daily basis on our roads, won’t be better we all turn to God for a turnaround? Shalom
