Newspaper Headlines: APC moves to reconcile warring NWC members

Reports on the leadership contest of the 10th national assembly dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation says Wole Soyinka, the Nobel laureate, has asked Bola Tinubu, president-elect, to devolve power to other arms of government. The newspaper reports that Julius Abure has been restrained by the court from parading himself as the national chairman of the LP.
The Guardian reports that the inefficiency of Nigeria’s seaports has made importers divert their cargoes to ports in Ghana, Togo, and the Benin Republic. The newspaper says Afenifere has criticised Lai Mohammed, minister of information, over his stance on the outcome of the February and March elections.
The Sun Newspaper reports that Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), has attributed the party’s loss in the March 18 governorship election in Kano state to the selfishness of some party members. The newspaper says President Muhammadu Buhari has approved N320 billion as an intervention fund for public tertiary institutions.
Daily Trust reports that former President Olusegun Obasanjo has asked a UK court to “temper justice with mercy” on Ike Ekweremadu, a former deputy senate president, and Beatrice, his wife, who were convicted for organ harvesting. The newspaper says the federal government is considering establishing 15 psychiatric outposts in the south-east zone of the country.

The newspaper says the federal government has secured $800m from the World Bank to provide post-petroleum subsidy palliatives for over 50 million Nigerians ahead of June 2023.
