Newspaper Headlines: APC screening panel yet to submit report 72 hours to presidential primary

The comment of Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos, on how he assisted President Muhammadu Buhari to become president in 2015 dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation says Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) must ensure that the next president comes from the south in order to retain power. The newspaper says the APC presidential screening panel is yet to submit its report 72 hours to the primaries.
The Punch says Tinubu said he assisted Buhari to become the county’s president in 2015. The newspaper reports that petrol queues have returned to Abuja for the third time in 2022.
Daily Independent says Abdulrahman Dambazau, former minister of interior, has asked the federal government to clean up weapons and drugs among Fulani youths. The newspaper reports that Buhari is expected to take the final decision on the next APC presidential candidate as governors failed to reach consensus.
The Guardian reports that with barely 72 hours to the presidential primary election of the APC, aspirants and stakeholders are making last-minute efforts to accommodate the contending interests in the party. The newspaper says insecurity could worsen ahead of the 2023 elections.
