Newspaper Headlines: APC to proceed with LG congresses despite court order

The submission of the forensic audit report on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to the federal government dominated the headlines of Nigerian newspapers.

Daily Independent says the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to proceed with its local government congresses, despite a court order. The newspaper reports that the federal government will probe and prosecute officials of the NDDC over mismanagement of funds.
Daily Sun reports that Aminu Masari, governor of Katsina state, has passed a vote of no confidence on Usman Baba, inspector-general of police, over the insecurity in the state. The newspaper says the federal government is considering compulsory vaccination for civil servants.
The Nation reports that the APC said the Delta state high court in Asaba did not restrain Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe state, from parading himself as the party’s caretaker chairman. The newspaper says governors rejected the move by the federal government to issue promissory notes to contractors and consultants.
The Punch reports that the federal government recorded a fiscal deficit of N15.35 trillion within a three-year period — from July 2018 to June 2021. The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has asked the federal government to put an end to the abduction of schoolchildren, the newspaper says.
The Nigerian Tribune reports that Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation, said over 13,777 NDDC projects were compromised. The newspaper says the police have announced the rescue of five abducted students of Government Day Secondary School, Kaya, Zamfara state.
