Newspaper Headlines: ASUU asks FG to fund varsities from N4trn petrol subsidy budget

The outrage that trailed the cost of nomination forms of public offices of the All Progressives Congress (APC) dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has warned the APC against imposition of candidates ahead of its primaries. The newspaper says Ibrahim Muhammed, chief justice of Nigeria, has warned judges against illegal wealth and flamboyance.
The Punch reports that the APC is silent on the zoning of its 2023 presidential ticket. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has asked the federal government to fund universities from the N4 trillion budgeted for petrol subsidy, the newspaper says.
Daily Independent says outrage has trailed the cost of APC nomination forms. The newspaper reports that Oladayo Amao, chief of air staff, has vowed to probe the circumstances that led to the aircraft crash which killed two of its personnel.
Daily Trust reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got N646 million from 17 presidential aspirants. The newspaper says gunmen attacked Anaku police divisional headquarters in Ayamelum LGA in Anambra.
The Guardian says the Ondo state government has suspended a civil servant for reportedly spreading fake news about the rumoured death of the governor. The newspaper reports that many people were killed and houses destroyed in a communal conflict involving Ibeno LGA of Akwa Ibom state.
