Newspaper Headlines: ASUU insists on strike, says demands must be met

The zoning formula of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its March 26 national convention appeared the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch says President Muhammadu Buhari and APC governors have opted for consensus and zoning for the March 26 national convention. The newspaper says the federal government has commenced investigations into the alleged collusion by domestic airlines to fix airfares on all domestic routes.
The Nation says APC zoning of its national executive positions may likely favour the southern part of the country as regards the 2023 presidential ticket of the party. The newspaper says the national assembly will commence voting on the amendments to the 1999 constitution on March 1.
Daily Trust reports that local airlines are recording low patronage owing to the hike in fares. The newspaper says bureau de change operators (BDC) who were detained over alleged terrorism have been granted access to their family members.
The Nigerian Tribune says Zainab Ahmed, minister of finance, said the federal government will sign a $3.3 billion loan agreement to fund 10 projects. The newspaper reports that gunmen have killed two police officers in Imo state.
Daily Independent says the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has insisted on continuing its strike, saying the federal government must meet the union’s demands. The newspaper reports that petrol importers have blamed Brittania-U, an oil marketer, for the importation of off-spec petrol.
