Newspaper Headlines: Auditor-general uncovers N197bn contract fraud in MDAs

The controversy trailing the tax reform bills dominates the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that there are indications that the national working committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may not sanction erring members before the next convention of the party. The newspaper said the Lagos chapter of the PDP has expressed its resolve to resist any attempt to impose Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, as the next governor of the state.
THISDAY reports that PDP governors have asked Tinubu to review his economic policies to end the hardship in the country. The newspaper says the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has rejected claims that it criticised President Bola Tinubu because he is a southerner.
Nigerian Tribune reports that PDP governors have accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of manipulating the September governorship election in Edo state. The newspaper says the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has rejected the proposed tax reform bill, which is currently before the national assembly, saying it was conceived in bad faith.
The Nation reports that Umar Damagum, the acting national chairman of the PDP, is under pressure from party’s stakeholders to resign. Edwin Devakumar, the vice-president of Dangote Industries Limited, says crude supply to the Dangote refinery under the naira-for-crude sale agreement is short of expectation, the newspaper reports.
