Newspaper Headlines: Auditor-general’s report indicts NNPC of N514bn financial infractions

The clash between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peter Obi, and the dismissal of 27 officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), permeate the frontpages. 

The Punch reports that the Office of Auditor-General for the Federation (OAGF) has uncovered at least four major financial infractions amounting to N514 billion in the operations of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited for the financial year ending December 31, 2021.  The newspaper says the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced a remittance of over N6 billion to the coffers of the federal government in 2024.
Daily Trust reports that two persons were killed in a suspected bomb explosion that occurred on Monday at an Islamiyya school located at Kuchibiyu community in the Bwari Area Council of the federal capital territory (FCT). The newspaper says former staff members of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) who were dismissed in a mass layoff last year, have sued the apex bank and demanded N30 billion in compensation.
Vanguard reports that EFCC has sacked 27 officers over alleged fraudulent activities and misconduct. The newspaper says the federal high court in Abuja has ordered Monday Okpebholo, governor of Edo, and the state house of assembly to maintain status quo on the suspension of LGA chairpersons in the state.

Tribune reports that terrorists raided a military base in Borno and killed six soldiers.
