Newspaper Headlines: Bakers to begin nationwide strike over rising production cost Feb 27

Reports on the meeting between the federal government and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on the minimum wage review, dominate the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that a meeting between the federal government and organised labour over the planned strike by the NLC and Trade Union Congress (TLC) ended in a deadlock. The newspaper says the federal government has informed electricity distribution companies that consumers do not want to pay estimated bills.
The Nation reports that Boss Mustapha, former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), said the signature of former President Muhammadu Buhari was forged for the alleged disbursement of $6,230,000 to foreign election observers. The newspaper says the federal government has resumed the payment of N35,000 wage award to workers.
Daily Trust reports that bandits have killed two policemen, and abducted over 40 people in an attack on Kasuwa-Daji town in Kaura-Namoda LGA, Zamfara state. The newspaper says many shops were destroyed by fire on Tuesday night following an explosion on Olusesi Street in the Ifako-Ishaga area of Lagos.
THISDAY reports that the federal government on Tuesday accused the governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of playing to the gallery over their statement on the state of the economy. The newspaper says the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has explained that the upcoming closed bid round for the sale of oil and gas blocks this year was legal and in line with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.
