Newspaper Headlines: Bloodshed in Imo, Enugu as sit-at-home cripples commercial activities in south-east

The attack on a train heading to Kaduna from Abuja by gunmen in the Kateri-Rijana area of Kaduna appeared on the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that allies of Rauf Aregbesola, minister of interior, and Lai Mohammed, minister of information, have left the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the crisis in the party. The newspaper says eight people have been killed in a cultists’ supremacy battle in Ogun.
The Nation says Godwin Emefiele, governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), said his focus at the moment is not about the 2023 presidency. The newspaper reports that a Kaduna-bound train with an unspecified number of passengers was attacked by terrorists on Monday night.
The Guardian reports that Bukola Saraki, Aminu Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed are pushing for a consensus presidential candidate in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The newspaper says the APC still blames the PDP for the country’s economic woes — seven years after the former assumed leadership at the federal level.

The newspaper reports that the sit-at-home order in the south-east region of the country crippled commercial activities in the region, on Monday.
Daily Sun reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has explained reasons for the delay in the distribution of permanent voter cards (PVCs). The newspaper says the sit-at-home order in Imo and Enugu states turned bloody.
