Newspaper Headlines: Buhari approves APC convention for February amid crisis in party

The scheduled date for the convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the controversy in the party over direct primary in the electoral bill appeared on the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation reports that controversy trailed the report of the Lagos judicial panel on police brutality and Lekki shooting incident. The newspaper says Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, said top police and military officers are involved in oil theft.

 

 

The Punch reports that the APC has scheduled its convention for February 2022 amid crises in 12 states. The newspaper says President Muhammadu Buhari said women are better in driving peace process in the country.

The Guardian reports that the federal government has asked civil servants to get the COVID-19 vaccines ahead of the December 1 deadline. The newspaper says bandits have killed four persons in Katsina community.

The newspaper says Ahmad Lawan, the speaker of the senate, said the national assembly expects that the president will sign the amended electoral bill.

 

Daily Sun says some south-east residents still observe Monday’s sit-at-home despite its dismissal by state governments and socio-cultural groups. Wike said the suit on value-added tax (VAT) will show if the country respects the rule of law, the newspaper reports.
