Newspaper Headlines: CBN plans shareholders summit for Union, Polaris, Keystone banks

Reports on the pronouncement of judgments by the supreme court in election disputes in eight states, scheduled for today, dominate the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

 

The Punch reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will hold meetings with the shareholders of Union Bank of Nigeria, Polaris Bank and Keystone Bank this weekend or early next week. The newspaper says there is tension in Kano over the judgment of the supreme court on the state governorship election dispute, scheduled for today.
Daily Trust reports that there is increased security in eight states where the final decision on governors would be made by the supreme court today. The newspaper says gunmen have abducted 23 people in the Kawu community in Bwari area council of Abuja.
The Guardian reports that woes and frustration are trailing the policies of President Bola Tinubu after more than seven months in office. The newspaper says schools, banks, and offices have shut down in Kano over the judgment of the supreme court on the state governorship election, scheduled for Friday.
THISDAY reports that foreign airlines that operate in Nigeria said the $61 million paid by the federal government out of the $800 million trapped fund, is insignificant. The newspaper says Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, has called on the federal government to go beyond the 60 percent in travel allowance of officials.
