Newspaper Headlines: Clark writes Buhari, says naval base in Kano useless

The signing of the anti-grazing bill into law by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, and other political issues ahead of the 2023 elections dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation reports that the federal government directed companies to remit their value-added tax for August to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). The newspaper says students in the south-east region who missed the WASSCE over the sit-at-home order will be allowed to retake them.
Daily Independent says civil servants in 30 states are facing uncertainty over payment of their pensions after retirement. The newspaper reports that Lagos has joined the list of southern states that have signed the anti-open grazing bill into law.
