Newspaper Headlines: Concerns over possible jailbreaks, and INEC troubled over electoral bill delay

The admonition of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo that Nigeria cannot afford another civil war dominated the headlines of Nigerian newspapers. Issues bordering on insecurity and 2023 general election also made the headlines.

There is growing concern over possible attacks on correctional facilities in the country, The Guardian reports. In yet another attack, gunmen razed a police station in Abia state, while two police officers were killed in Akwa Ibom, on Tuesday, the newspaper says.
The Nation’s headline focuses on the warning of Osinbajo that Nigeria cannot afford another civil war. The newspaper says the Lagos state government has withdrawn the N25 million donation to Mary Daniel, the trader amputee, whose story went viral weeks ago over false claims.
Daily Independent says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is troubled over the delay in the passage of the electoral act amendment bill. The newspaper reports that the convoy of Clifford Ordia, the senator representing Edo central senatorial district, was attacked by bandits twice, while travelling along Lokoja-Abuja road.
