Newspaper Headlines: Court orders forfeiture of $1.4m bribery proceeds linked to Emefiele

Reports on the reintroduction of the old national anthem permeate the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that President Bola Tinubu said he would soon transmit the 2024 supplementary appropriation bill to the national assembly. The newspaper reports that a federal high court in Lagos on Wednesday ordered the interim forfeiture of $1,426,175.14 linked to Godwin Emefiele, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
THISDAY reports that the National Judicial Council (NJC) has proposed an emergency meeting for next week, where John Tsoho, the chief judge of the federal high court, and his counterpart in Kano state, Dije Aboki, would be invited and subjected to serious investigations. The newspaper says Dangote refinery is seeking a dual listing on the London and Lagos stock exchange markets.
The Nation reports that President Bola Tinubu has signed the bill on the reintroduction of the old national anthem. The newspaper says Tinubu has approved free rides on the Abuja metro line for six months.
Vanguard reports that the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has faulted the conflicting orders issued by the federal and Kano state high courts on the emirship tussle. The newspaper says the Edo government and All Progressives Congress (APC) have traded words over attacks at voters’ registration centres in the state.
