Newspaper Headlines: Crude oil worth N1.36trn stolen in 14 months, says FG

The move for a consensus arrangement by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Saturday’s national convention appeared on the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation says APC has explained why it chose the consensus option to pick party officials at Saturday’s national convention. The newspaper reports that $3.27 billion worth of crude oil was stolen in the country in the past 14 months.
The Punch reports that the last minute move of President Muhammadu Buhari towards a consensus arrangement for the APC national convention did not yield the right results as some aspirants disagreed. The federal government said no fewer than 207,000 cases of tuberculosis were reported in 2021 with 12,977 cases affecting children, the newspaper says.
Daily Sun reports that the consensus option for the APC national convention is gaining support. The newspaper says Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra, has joined the race for the 2023 presidential election.

The Guardian reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended action on the court order sacking David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi, his deputy and 16 members of the state house of assembly. The newspaper says Southern and Middle Belt Leaders’ Forum tackled Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto, over the disregard for zoning in the race to the 2023 presidential election.
