Newspaper Headlines: Diphtheria killed 1,191 persons in 17 months, says NCDC

President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet reshuffle understandably takes up acres of space on the frontpages today.

The Punch reports that the president has approved the re-assignment of 10 ministers to new portfolios, sacked five and nominated seven new others for onward transmission to the senate for confirmation. The newspaper says the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has started supplying petrol to some oil marketers directly without recourse to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

Daily Trust reports that telecommunications customers have accused service providers of secretly increasing the cost of data without prior public notice. The newspaper says the federal government has withdrawn the money laundering charges filed against Tigran Gambaryan, an executive of Binance Holdings Limited.
The Guardian reports that Kola Ologbondiyan, former national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has appealed to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory, to allow the PDP to function well. According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Diphtheria has killed 1,191 persons in 17 months, the newspaper reports. 
The Nation reports that Wale Edun, the minister of finance, said the federal government is taking strategic steps to de-dollarise the economy and boost the value of the naira. The newspaper says the federal executive council (FEC) has approved credit facilities from a group of financiers for the procurement of fighter aircraft and ammunition for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and other contracts.
