Newspaper Headlines: EFCC sets up 7,000-member task force against dollar racketeers

Reports on the move by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against dollar racketeers, and the Super Eagles march to the final game of AFCON 2023 after a dramatic penalty shootout against South Africa, suffuse the front pages today. 

The Punch reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has constituted a 7,000-member special task force across its 14 zonal commands to clamp down on dollar racketeers. The newspaper quotes the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) as saying that the ban on the sale of alcoholic drinks in sachet by the National Agency For Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) will cost the Nigerian economy 500,000 jobs.
The Guardian reports that the court has ordered the federal government to fix prices of goods and petroleum products. The newspaper says Nigeria defeated South Africa on penalties to reach the final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

THISDAY reports that electronic payment transactions in Nigeria hit an all-time high in 2023 as it rose by 55 percent to N600 trillion, compared to N387 trillion in 2022. Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser, has convened a UK-Nigeria security defence partnership dialogue, scheduled to hold in Abuja, the newspaper says.
