Newspaper Headlines: Emeka Nwajiuba asks court to declare him APC presidential candidate

Reports on the impeachment move against President Muhammadu Buhari and the rising insecurity in the country dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

Daily Trust reports that the depreciation of the naira is taking a toll on investors in the country. The newspaper says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers in the house of representatives have backed their senate counterparts on the impeachment move against Buhari.
The Nation says leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have begun moves to stop the impeachment plan against Buhari. The newspaper reports that the federal government has threatened to punish the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Daily Trust for what it described as promotion of terrorism and banditry.
The Punch reports that Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, immediate past minister of state for education, and a group have asked the court to declare him as the authentic presidential candidate of the APC. The newspaper says passengers are groaning over the hike in price of flight tickets.
Daily Independent reports Babagana Monguno, national security adviser (NSA), said Nigerians are tired and gravitating towards self-help over the rising insecurity in the country. The newspaper says Ahmed Idris, suspended accountant-general of the federation, has been granted bail.
The Guardian says the federal government said telecommunications subscribers will pay five percent tax on calls, SMS and data services. The newspaper reports that the price of cooking gas increased by 103.92 percent.
