Newspaper Headlines: Festivities may worsen cholera outbreak as cases spread to 30 states

Reports on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration and the spread of cholera dominate the front pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The PUNCH reports that medical experts have warned that the latest cholera outbreak may spread faster and wider during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration if preventive measures are not taken. The newspaper says the hike in prices of foodstuffs, especially rams, threatens Sallah celebrations in many parts of the country.
The Guardian reports that the police have beefed up security nationwide for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. The newspaper says President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ayodeji Gbeleyi as the director-general of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).
Daily Trust reports that Nigeria’s 289-person delegation to the just concluded 112th International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland, has stirred outcry on the management of public funds. The newspaper says Finidi George has stepped down from his role as the head coach of the Super Eagles.
THISDAY reports that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Police Service Commission (PSC) are at loggerheads over the recruitment of police constables despite the judgment of the supreme court affirming the constitutional powers of the latter to recruit police personnel.
