Newspaper Headlines: FG enlists 104 health facilities for free caesarean section initiative

The hike in telecommunications tariff permeates the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) approved a 50 percent increase in call tariffs on Monday, which may raise the average cost of calls to N16.5 per minute. The newspaper says several northern states have adopted the national livestock transformation plan, popularly known as the rural grazing area initiative, to address the farmer-herder crisis.
The Nation reports that subscribers have kicked against the recent hike in telecommunications tariff by 50 percent. The newspaper says the death toll from the petrol tanker explosion that occurred in Gurara LGA of Niger state has risen to 98.
The Guardian reports that 104 health facilities have been enlisted for the pilot phase of the federal government’s caesarean section aimed at addressing high maternal mortality.
