Newspaper Headlines: FG names 15 terrorism financiers, BDCs, plans sanctions

Reports on rising insecurity in the country and reactions to the killing of soldiers in Delta state, suffuse the front pages today. 

The Punch reports that no fewer than 165 farmers have lost their lives to attacks by bandits across the country in 2024. The federal government said it has uncovered the identity of 15 entities allegedly involved in terrorism financing, including nine individuals and six bureau de change operators.
Daily Trust reports that seven states in the northern part of the country budgeted N28.3 billion for feeding during Ramadan. The newspaper says Godswill Akpabio, senate president, is under fire over his comment linking the killing of soldiers in Okuoma community, Delta state, to the activities of mercenaries.
The Guardian reports that many digital loan lenders are targeting poor Nigerians amid the economic hardship, in order to violate their privacy rights. The newspaper says administrative activities have been paralysed in many federal universities amid the ongoing strike embarked upon by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU).
THISDAY reports that Sheriff Oborevwori, governor of Delta, has met with President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa over the killing of soldiers in Okuoma community, Delta state. The newspaper says a new report by the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) showed that the three tiers of government shared the total sum of N10.143 trillion from the federation account as statutory revenue allocations in 2023.
