Newspaper Headlines: FG probes four northern politicians over use of Russian flags by protesters

Reports on the clampdown on alleged sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance protest permeate the frontpages. 

The Punch reports that Nigeria’s security agencies are investigating at least four politicians from the country’s north over the use of Russian flags by #EndBadGovernance protesters. The newspaper says the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has offered financial support to aid the merger between Unity Bank Plc and Providus Bank Limited.
The Guardian reports that state governments appear to have ceded their responsibilities to the federal government despite receiving over N5 trillion in allocation since 2023. The newspaper says Ali Ndume, senator representing Borno south, is expected to be reinstated as the chief whip of the senate after he apologised to the All Progressives Congress (APC) over his comments on the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Nigerian Tribune says the federal government has placed alleged sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance protest on a watchlist. The newspaper reports that Lucky Aiyedatiwa, governor of Ondo, said the state will implement the N70,000 minimum wage.
The Nation reports that the momentum of the #EndBadGovernance protests has dissipated in many parts of the country. The newspaper reports that Wale Edun, minister of finance, said no fewer than 4.3 million Nigerians have received direct cash transfers from the federal government.
