Newspaper Headlines: FG summons 80 private jet owners over operating papers

Reports on the political crisis in Rivers state over the expiration of the tenure of LGA chairpersons dominate the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The PUNCH reports that there are fears that pupils may be at risk of contracting cholera ahead of school resumption from mid-term break on Wednesday. The newspaper says the federal government has begun a fresh move to clamp down on operators of improperly imported private jets into the country.
THISDAY reports that armed youths have threatened to force out Rivers LGA chairpersons after the expiration of their tenures on Tuesday. The newspaper says Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, governor of Kwara, said ongoing reforms by President Bola Tinubu were meant to refocus the economy and achieve long-term sustainable growth for the country.
The Guardian reports that public hospitals in Nigeria are battling a scarcity of essential drugs. The newspaper says revenue collecting agencies — the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), and Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) — spent N214.29 billion as logistics cost in the first quarter of 2024.
Daily Trust reports that Nigerians have asked Tinubu to lead by example after saying citizens must sacrifice to fulfill the dreams of its founding fathers. The newspaper says the federal government has denied renaming the Murtala Mohammed expressway in the federal capital territory (FCT) after Wole Soyinka, the Nobel laureate.
