Newspaper Headlines: FG suspends registration for N40k rice

Reports on the financial losses incurred by businesses during the #EndBadGovernance protest, especially in northern Nigeria, dominate the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that many Nigerians, especially in the north, will live with the wounds, scars and financial losses occasioned by the nationwide protest. The newspaper says the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has demanded a refund of N4.71 trillion from the federal government to settle outstanding debts used to import petrol. 
Daily Trust reports that 25 people have died in boat mishaps in Bayelsa and Jigawa states. The newspaper says the federal government has suspended the planned sale of subsidised rice to civil servants.
The Guardian reports that the south-east geopolitical zone is gradually becoming a haven of abandoned projects in the country. The newspaper reports that manufacturers are lamenting N1.5 trillion forex-related losses in the last six months.
Nigerian Tribune reports that Afenifere has asked the federal government to reveal identities of persons behind the waving of Russian flags during the protest. The newspaper says the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has suspended Okpravero Ufuoma, an assistant superintendent of immigration II, for soliciting money from a traveller.
