Newspaper Headlines: FG to quarantine travellers from China over new virus

The new virus in China, petrol tanker explosion in Delta state, and the tax reform bills, suffuse the frontpages.

The Punch reports that the federal government said it would activate surveillance measures for inbound passengers from China following the surge of a respiratory virus. The Labour Party (LP) has said it can win the 2027 presidential election without entering a coalition with other parties.
THISDAY reports that Taiwo Oyedele, chairman of the presidential committee on fiscal policy and tax reforms, has denied the claim that the panel did not consult with state governors before drafting the tax reform bills. The newspaper reports the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as saying that it is in the best position to produce the next president of Nigeria and more governors.
Daily Trust reports that there are over N2 trillion worth of power projects that have not been completed in the country. The newspaper says Surajo Amadu Rufa’i, acting chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Katsina chapter, has been killed by suspected bandits, with his wives and daughters kidnapped.
Vanguard reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it has no plans to destroy more than six million uncollected permanent voter cards (PVCs). The newspaper says four persons reportedly died in a petrol tanker explosion, with bank facilities affected, in Agbor, Ika LGA of Delta state.
