Newspaper Headlines: Fresh concerns over loans from China, and governors oppose executive order 10

The grilling of Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo state, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of fraud dominated the headlines of Nigerian newspapers. The opposition of governors to the executive order 10 signed by President Muhammadu Buhari also made the headlines.

The Guardian’s headline focuses on fresh concerns over Nigeria’s loan burden from China. The newspaper reports that Enoch Adeboye, a cleric, prophesied victory over insecurity and banditry in the country.
The Nation says governors kicked against the executive order 10 signed by Buhari that gives financial autonomy to the legislature and judiciary at the state level. The newspaper says Okorocha is in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged N7.9 billion fraud.
The Punch’s headline is on the reactions of governors to Buhari’s executive order 10. On insecurity, the newspaper reports that the police and hunters launched a manhunt for the abductors of three women on Ibadan-Ijebu Ode road. The Punch also reports that Adeboye said Nigeria needs divine intervention when he visited Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state.
