Newspaper Headlines: Fubara appeals court order stopping Rivers’ financial allocation

Reports on the political crisis in Rivers state, and the lifting of petrol from the Dangote Petrochemical Refinery, dominate the frontpages.

 

The Punch reports that oil marketers have again written to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, expressing their willingness to buy refined petroleum products from the plant. The newspaper says the Rivers state government has appealed the court order restraining the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from further releasing allocations from the federation account to the state.
Daily Trust reports that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced the restoration of electricity to some northern states following the successful repair of the 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line 1. The newspaper says President Bola Tinubu has appointed Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, a major general, as the acting chief of army staff (COAS).
Vanguard reports organised labour as saying that the latest hike in the price of petrol is pushing Nigerians to the limit. The newspaper says David Umahi, minister of works, has justified the erection of four tollgates on the Abuja-Keffi-Makurdi expressway.
The Guardian reports that stakeholders in Rivers have faulted the court order restraining CBN from further releasing allocations to the state government. The newspaper says the senate has confirmed seven ministerial nominees.
