Newspaper Headlines: PDP G5 governors demand Tinubu’s support for their candidates

The outcome of the meeting between Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) G5 governors dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch says the five aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have demanded the support of Bola Tinubu for PDP governorship and senatorial candidates in their respective states. The newspaper reports that the federal government said it has not considered imposing mandatory COVID-19 testing or restrictions on travellers from China until there is a need for it.
The Nation says the refusal of G5 governors to support PDP in the 2023 presidential election may have put Atiku Abubakar, the party’s flagbearer, in a “tighter corner”.
