Newspaper Headlines: Gani Adams kicks as Sultan-led NSCIA backs move for Sharia court in s’west

Reports on the drama at the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the planned protest over tariff hike by telecommunication companies, permeate the frontpages.

The Punch reports that Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, has kicked against the push to establish Sharia courts in the south-west geopolitical zone, as the Sultan of Sokoto-led Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) throws its weight behind the move. The newspaper says the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced that Max Air will suspend its domestic flight operations for three months.

The Guardian reports that the federal government’s plan to eradicate tropical diseases is stalling due to bureaucratic hurdles and N8.6 trillion care funding gap.
