Newspaper Headlines: Governors, n’assembly ask Buhari to act on insecurity

The demand of state governors and the national assembly to President Muhammadu Buhari that urgent steps be taken to address insecurity dominated the headlines of Nigerian newspapers. The attacks on an internally-displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Benue state and a checkpoint in Ebonyi state also made the headlines.

Daily Independent reports that the senate asked Buhari to address insecurity in the country. The newspaper says herders killed seven persons in Benue state, while two soldiers were killed in Ebonyi state by hoodlums.
The Punch reports that state governors asked Buhari to take action on insecurity in the country as 21 Nigerians were killed by gunmen within 24 hours. Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos state, dismissed the rumoured rift between himself and Buhari, the newspaper reports.
