Newspaper Headlines: Governors, NWC may clash over plan to adopt Ganduje as APC chair

Reports on the rejection of the national social register created by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, dominate the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.
The Punch reports that the National Economic Council (NEC) has concluded plans for state governments to implement cash transfer programmes using state-generated social registers as part of the palliatives for the petrol subsidy removal. The newspaper says there are indications that members of the national working committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may clash with the party’s governors over a plan by the latter to adopt Abdullahi Ganduje as the new national chairman of the party.Vanguard reports that the house of representatives has asked the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) not to approve the proposed increase in electricity tariff. The newspaper says a federal high court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to grant Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), access to his medical records and doctors of his choice.The Guardian reports that one week before the sixty days deadline, President Bola Tinubu is yet to send his ministerial list to the senate. The newspaper says the Yobe state government has reported 30 deaths from 289 cases of diphtheria, in six local government areas of the state.Daily Sun reports that the house of representatives has resolved to investigate the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for alleged mismanagement of funds and non-disclosure of details of interest on investments from the excess crude oil account. The newspaper says Hyacinth Alia, governor of Benue, said the state has uncovered 2,500 ghost workers after the completion of the first phase of civil servants’ verification.
