Newspaper Headlines: Gunmen kill Katsina governor’s aide, abduct 29

Reports on the criticisms trailing the purchase of a new presidential jet by the federal government, and the lingering petrol scarcity, suffuse the frontpages of the dailies. 

The Punch reports that many tankers are currently at various depots in Lagos, waiting to load petrol for onward delivery to states, amid the scarcity of the product. The newspaper says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) have berated the federal government for purchasing a new presidential jet worth $100 million without the approval of the national assembly.
Daily Trust reports that the Kano state Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has launched investigations into allegations of a multi-million naira procurement fraud, as well as a case of alleged mismanagement of federal government palliatives. The newspaper says the presidency is silent on the cost of the new presidential jet. 
The Nation reports that the federal government is set to commence the disbursement of N200 billion to 75 major companies, and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The newspaper says the police have invited Joe Ajaero, president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), for questioning over alleged terrorism financing.
The Guardian reports that the desperation of state governments to increase revenue profiles may have stalled 90 projects across the country and complicated efforts to increase electricity output. The newspaper says bandits have killed Salisu Ango, the liaison officer to the governor of Katsina, and his first wife, in Kankia LGA — while his second wife was abducted.
