Newspaper Headlines: Gunmen kill man after receiving N16m ransom in Kaduna

Reports on the political crisis in Rivers state, and the Kano emirship tussle, suffuse the frontpages of the dailies. 

Daily Trust reports that the federal high court in Kano will today deliver its ruling in the suit seeking to determine the validity of the Kano Emirates Council Repeal Law 2024. The newspaper says the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers has asked the federal government to declare a state of emergency over the political crisis in the state.
Vanguard reports that governors are hesitant on the implementation of the new minimum wage due to lack of funds in states. The newspaper says Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers, has ordered the investigation of accounts of the 23 LGAs.
The Guardian reports that the proposed inflation reduction and price stability plan, and the much-awaited minimum wage review, have created fiscal uncertainty. The newspaper says the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has asked the APC in Kano not to set the state on fire over chieftaincy law.
THISDAY reports that the joint union congress of the Police Service Commission (PSC) has accused Kayode Egbetokun, inspector-general of police, of peddling falsehood on the latest recruitment of constables. The newspaper says Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production Company (AEEPCO), operator of the NNPC/ Aiteo Joint Venture on OML 29, has confirmed that it had detected an oil leak at its Nembe swamp facility in OML 29, Nembe, Bayelsa state.
