Newspaper Headlines: IGP Egbetokun gets 3-year tenure extension

Reports on the soaring price of petrol at the pumps dominate the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers. 

The Punch reports that governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), may clash at the party’s national working committee meeting on Wednesday. The newspaper says the price of petrol may rise above N1,000 per litre as the cost of the commodity in some private depots has been increased to between N920 and N950/litre.
Daily Trust reports that Boko Haram terrorists reportedly killed many farmers and set houses and shops ablaze in Tarmuwa LGA of Yobe state.  Quoting sources, the newspaper says President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of the tenure of Kayode Egbetokun, inspector-general of police, by three years. 
Vanguard reports that the price of petrol may surge to N1,405 per litre as the federal government can no longer sustain the payment of subsidy due to the steady rise in petrol import bills. The newspaper says the presidency has denied an alleged frosty relationship between Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
The Nation reports that police have placed a N20 million bounty on Andrew Wynne (also known as Andrew Povich), a Briton; and Lucky Obiyan, a Nigerian; after they were declared wanted for allegedly plotting to overthrow President Tinubu. The newspaper says Amaka Sonnberger, a Nigerian living in Canada who has reportedly spewed death threats and hate speech against certain tribes back home, has been arrested.
