Newspaper Headlines: Jega, Utomi float new political movement to ‘rescue’ Nigeria

The cover pages of the Nigerian newspapers were dominated with issues on the 2023 presidential election, especially on zoning and the floating of a new political movement. 

Daily Independent says prominent Nigerians like Attahiru Jega, Ahmed Abdulfatai, Donald Duke and Pat Utomi are leading a movement to upstage the All Progressives Congress (APC). The newspaper says the federal government plans to register new mobile phones before use in the country.
The Punch says experts are lamenting over the federal government’s decision to spend N20 billion on Ajaokuta steel in six years. The newspaper reports that the UK employed 353 Nigerian doctors in 100 days.
The Nation reports that Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, said the anti-open grazing law enacted by some southern governors is not implementable. The newspaper says 1,783,676 people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Nigeria.
