Newspaper Headlines: Labour kicks as FG backdates minimum wage payment to July 29

The Punch reports that 17 political parties will do battle in Edo state today. The newspaper says the committee on consequential adjustments in salaries for civil servants has agreed that the effective date for implementation of the new minimum wage will be July 29, 2024.

THISDAY reports that the Edo south senatorial district has the highest number of registered voters with 1,526,717, followed by Edo north with 620,412, while Edo central has 443,474 voters. The newspaper says Kashim Imam, a former parliamentary liaison officer to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has volunteered to provide meals to a large number of people displaced by recent flood that submerged more than half of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, and its environs.
