Newspaper Headlines: Lakurawa kills 13 vigilantes in Kebbi

Reports on the crisis in the Labour Party and the planned nationwide protest dominate the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that Haruna Kankara, the national president of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), said about 20 states are yet to implement the N70,000 new minimum wage for local government workers and primary school teachers. The newspaper says the Julius Abure-led leadership of the Labour Party (LP) is making plans to prevent the takeover of the party’s national secretariat in Abuja by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Nenadi Usman-led national caretaker committee of the LP.
The Nation reports that police officers may clash with protesters today in Lagos and Abuja over the march against cyberbullying and the emergency declaration in Rivers state. The newspaper says two Chinese and a police inspector have been killed in an ambush in Abia state.
Daily Trust reports that the Lakurawa terrorist group on Sunday killed 13 members of a vigilance group as they attacked Morai community in Augie LGA of Kebbi state. The newspaper says suspected Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Izge village, Gwoza local government area of Borno state, killing two soldiers and losing many of their fighters.
Nigerian Tribune reports that Kayode Egbetokun, inspector-general of police, has withdrawn the invitation sent to Muhammadu Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, by the force headquarters. The newspaper says the federal government has ordered tertiary institutions to publish their budgetary allocations and expenditures.
