Newspaper Headlines: Livestock ministry targets $74bn GDP contribution by 2035

Reactions trailing Ibrahim Babangida’s book, and the planned local government election in Osun, continue to dominate the headlines.

Tribune says the Osun state government has rejected the Nigerian Police Force’s advice to suspend Saturday’s LG elections. The newspaper reports that Idi Maiha, minister of livestock development, said the industry is projected to create over 500, 000 jobs by 2027.
Daily Trust reports that Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), former military president, said the murder of Dele Giwa was a ploy to destabilise his government. The house of representatives committee on the review of the 1999 constitution said none of the 31 requests it received for state creation met the constitutional requirements.

The Nation reports that Idi Maiha, minister of livestock development, says the federal government plans to increase the livestock sector’s gross domestic product (GDP) contribution to the economy from $32 billion to $74 billion (about N1.2 trn) by 2035. The newspaper reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom says the cabinet of Umo Eno, governor of the state, is full of expired politicians.
