Newspaper Headlines: Manufacturers lament over forex scarcity

Issues on the country’s economy, including the value-added tax debate and the zoning of the 2023 presidency dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

Daily Independent reports that scarcity of foreign exchange in the country has made manufacturers shut down their production lines. The newspaper says the position of the southern governors on zoning of the 2023 presidency may alter the zoning arrangement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Nation says private business groups have expressed worries over how to pay value-added tax and who to pay it to. The newspaper reports that Obadiah Mailafia, former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was taken to three hospitals in two days before his death.
