Newspaper Headlines: Many soldiers missing as death toll from Borno attack rises

Reports on insecurity, particularly the attack on soldiers in Borno, bomb explosion in Abuja, threat of bandits in Oyo, suffuse the frontpages.

The Punch reports that security agencies in the south-west geopolitical zone have ramped up measures to tackle the threat recently talked about by Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state. The newspaper says Monday Okphebolo, governor of Edo, has alleged that the suspended 18 local government council chairpersons diverted and remitted about N12 billion to leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 15 months.
Daily Trust reports that many soldiers are missing following the Boko Haram attack on a military base in Damboa LGA of Borno state on Saturday. The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) said the recent bomb explosion in a school in Abuja is a case of national and international interests, the newspaper says.
Vanguard reports that epileptic power supply and migration of personnel to foreign countries have worsened the challenges in Nigeria’s health sector.
