Newspaper Headlines: Miyetti Allah rejects Obi, says former governor represents ‘Biafran interest’

Reports on the feud between Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

Sunday Punch says the rising cost of food items may become worse as terrorists are taking over farmlands and preventing farmers from carrying out farming activities. Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore said it had instructed Fulani people not to vote for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), the newspaper reports.
The Nation says an alleged offer of $40 million as commission to a governor forced the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) to resist the payment of $418 million to the consultants of the Paris Club refund. The newspaper reports that the peace talks to resolve the feud before Wike and Atiku have hit another hurdle.
Daily Trust reports that security forces are yet to curb violent attacks across the country despite presidential orders. Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said the party will resolve its crisis before the 2023 elections, the newspaper says.
Sunday Independent says Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa, has been appointed to spearhead reconciliation talks on the feud between Atiku and Wike. The newspaper reports that Mike Ozekhome, a senior advocate of Nigeria, has instituted a legal suit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend voter registration.
THISDAY says APC leaders and members are behind Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, while the major opposition party is trying to settle the feud between his presidential candidate and Wike, a major stakeholder in the PDP.
