Newspaper Headlines: N7trn remitted to federation account in six months, says RMAFC

Reports on the trial of Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi, and his placement on a watchlist for “evading arrest”, permeate the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the federal government has placed Bello on its watchlist to prevent him from fleeing the country. The newspaper says the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has disclosed that a total of N7.3 trillion accrued to the federation account between July and December 2023, indicating an increased revenue inflow.
Daily Trust reports that the prices of paddy are beginning to come down in many grain markets in the country as the dry season harvest begins. The newspaper says Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser, said President Bola Tinubu deliberately appointed northerners into key offices.
