Newspaper Headlines: N’assembly appeals against judgment on section 84(12) of Electoral Act

The review of the vertical revenue allocation formula by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the national assembly has commenced the process to appeal the court judgment which ordered the removal of section 84(12) of the Electoral Act, 2022. The newspaper says family members of passengers abducted from the Abuja-Kaduna train staged a protest at the federal ministry of transportation in Abuja.
The Nation says state and local governments will earn more from the consolidated revenue fund should the national assembly ratify the proposed sharing formula. The newspaper reports that the deficit of the 2022 budget will hit N7.38 trillion.
The Guardian reports that Wole Soyinka, Nobel laureate, said he will be involved  in legal proceedings to unravel the killers of Bola Ige, former attorney-general of the federation. Daily Sun reports that south-east leaders in the APC have demanded that the party’s presidential ticket be zoned to the region. The newspaper says the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited said Nigeria lost $1.5 billion to oil theft in three months.
