Newspaper Headlines: N’assembly caucus meetings on tax reform bills delay talks with AGF

Conversations around the tax reform bills continue to dominate the headlines.


The Punch reports that the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and other stakeholders attacked the presidency for stating that President Bola Tinubu would stay in power till 2031. The newspaper says Agboola Ajayi, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state, has filed a suit at the election tribunal over the outcome of the November 16 governorship election in the state.
Daily Trust reports that the south-east caucus in the senate has joined other stakeholders to call for wider consultations on the controversial tax reform bills.
THISDAY reports the PDP as saying that the return of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of Ghana was a sign that the reign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria would end in 2027. The newspaper says Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, has commissioned the Abiola-Onijemo link road in the Ifako Ijaiye LGA of the state.
The Guardian reports that a survey conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows that Borno state has been identified as having the highest number of internally displaced households in Nigeria. The newspaper says Wale Edun, minister of finance, said there are positive signs that the Nigerian economy will turn around next year.
