Newspaper Headlines: Natasha Akpoti petitions IGP over alleged signatures forgery in recall process

Reports on the killing of 16 travellers by a mob in Edo state dominate the front pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that outrage has trailed the gruesome murder of 16 travellers by a mob in Uromi, Edo state. The newspaper says Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Kogi central senator, has petitioned the inspector-general of police over alleged forgery of signatures in the recall petition against her.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the presidency has denied claims by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar that he is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged financial transaction involving Lagos state. The newspaper says President Bola Tinubu has ordered a manhunt for the persons who murdered travellers in Edo state.
The Nation reports that George Nwaeke, the immediate past head of service in Rivers state, has alleged that Siminalayi Fubara, governor of the state, plotted the destruction of the Rivers house of assembly complex in October 2023. The newspaper says EFCC has declared Aisha Achimugu, managing director/CEO of Felak Concept Group, wanted for alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering.
The Guardian reports that Tinubu has sought the intervention of God over Nigeria’s challenges.
