Newspaper Headlines: Ondo speaker asks Aiyedatiwa to sign undated resignation letter

Reports on the loan request of the federal government, and the trial of Godwin Emefiele, dominate the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation reports that Olamide Oladiji, speaker of the Ondo house of assembly, said Lucky Aiyedatiwa, deputy governor of the state, is expected to sign an undated resignation letter. The newspaper says Godwin Emefiele, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is yet to perfect his bail conditions.
The Guardian reports that Akinwunmi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), has urged African governments to stop securing loans backed by their natural resources. THISDAY reports that President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the present hardship is temporary and that the benefits will be permanent. The newspaper says the court of appeal has affirmed Siminalayi Fubara and Kefas Agbu as governor of Rivers and Taraba states, respectively.
