Newspaper Headlines: One year after, Tinubu yet to appoint ambassadors for 109 embassies

Reports on the declaration of Monday Okpebholo, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo, as winner of the September 21 governorship election, permeate the frontpages.

The Punch reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has kicked against the results of Saturday’s governorship election in Edo state. The newspaper says President Bola Tinubu is yet to appoint ambassadors for 109 foreign missions, a year after he recalled the previous ambassadors.

Vanguard reports that the Lagos state government and Dangote Petrochemical Refinery have disagreed over the implementation of a call-up truck management system in the refinery axis. The newspaper says the federal government has released six #EndBadGovernance protesters out of the over 1,403 arrested and detained nationwide.

Nigerian Tribune reports that indigenous ship owners in Nigeria have raised the alarm that Nigeria is currently losing billions in revenue to capital flight due to the dominance of the nation’s African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement by foreign vessels, especially Chinese-owned vessels. The newspaper says the federal government has appealed to Nigerians to clear canals and drainages to mitigate floods.
